The hit Netflix dramedy begins production today for its final series.
The third and final season of the Ricky Gervais hit has entered production, nearly a year after the second season debuted on Netflix. Filming for 'After Life' season three got underway today, Monday April 19, and Gervais looks ecstatic to be back on a film set.
The series is filmed in a number of locations across the UK, including Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, and Hampstead in west London.
Here's our first look at Ricky Gervais on the set of 'After Life' season three, which Netflix tweeted out to its followers.
'After Life' season three will be the final hurrah for the Ricky Gervais comedy/drama. Alongside Gervais returning as Tony, we will most likely see the return of Kerry Godliman as Lisa, Tony's late wife; Joe Wilkinson as Tony's infuriating Postman; and Ashley Jensen as Emma, his late father's carer, who we might see him get closer with.
Last year, the series was expected to deliver a Christmas special, which ultimately never saw the light of day. Could we see one this year? Here's hoping.
It was also reported in 2020 that the actor-turned-creator signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. Presumedly after the 'After Life' buzz quietens down, we'll be hearing about further projects in the pipeline from the comedy writer. In the past, he's brought the likes of 'The Office', 'Extras', 'Derek', and of course 'Threat Level Midnight: The Movie' from 'The US Office' to our screens.
Next on his agenda is expected to be 'Flanimals', which will be an animation movie based on his children's book series.
