With International Women's Day being this weekend, we're celebrating all the fabulous women in the entertainment industry.
For their part, among the impressive range of stand-up shows on offer, Netflix have a number of great shows from women comedians. If you're looking for a night in that will genuinely have you clutching over with laughter, check out some of these greats.
Ali Wong: Baby Cobra
Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife
There are not one but two shows available on Netflix from the gas stand-up comedian that is Ali Wong. Wong is pregnant for both shows - the first of which she filmed while expecting her first child in 2016 and the second of which hit the streaming service last year. The shows see her go into hilarious and often graphic detail about marriage, sex, race and motherhood.
Iliza Shlesinger: War Paint
Iliza Shlesinger: Freezing Hot
Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills
Iliza Shlesinger: Elder Millennial
Iliza Shlesinger: Unveiled
Fans of Iliza Shlesinger have five stand-up shows by the comedian to choose from on Netflix. Her latest 'Unveiled' parodies being a bride and her new married life. But 'Freezing Hot' is probably the best and sees her relate anecdotes about the ridiculous and hilarious habits of girls on nights out, the madness of Pinterest (or as she refers to it, "porn for white women"), and the battle arena of dating. She parodies the craziness that is being a woman to a tee. People of a certain age are going to lose their minds laughing at 'Elder Millennial'.
Ellen Degeneres: Relatable
For 'Relatable', Ellen Degeneres deliver her first stand-up show since 2003 - and first ever Netflix special. The talk show host's return to her roots is at his best when DeGeneres reflects back on her career, including what it was like coming out on national television. Whether or not she's still relatable is up to the viewer. In any case, at 60 years old, she remains a phenomenal comedian.
Katherine Ryan: In Trouble
Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room
Based in England, born in Canada and half-Irish on her dad's side, you might recognise Katherine Ryan from her appearances on '8 out of 10 Cats', 'Mock the Week', 'Live At the Apollo' and 'A League of Their Own'. In her Netflix special, Ryan reflects on her upbringings in a small town, the perks of dating younger men, and how she once enraged a nation.
Sarah Silverman: A Speck of Dust
On this side of the pond, we haven't quite learned to appreciate the treasure that is Sarah Silverman. Most people probably know her best as the voice of Vanellope in 'Wreck-It Ralph' but her Netflix stand-up show should give you an idea of why she ranks among the best women comedians. In it, she divulges in her near-death experience, delivers some tough home truths, and lands genuine, big laughs.
Amy Schumer: The Leather Special
Amy Schumer: Growing
Schumer's career has been quiet of late. Mind you, as Netflix show 'Growing' shows, the actress has been busy. Just with stuff like marriage, pregnancy, politics and more. Her movies 'Trainwreck' and 'I Feel Pretty' are also on Netflix, as is her show 'The Leather Special'. But be warned, if you don't like gross-out, graphic descriptions of sex and female anatomy, you'd probably best avoid it.
