It's Monday, and Mondays are always a little, well, difficult. Whether you've had a mad weekend of partying or are simply exhausted at the thought of a full week ahead, you probably want something light to sit back and have a cuppa with this evening, while also not wanting to waste your time on something terrible.

Below are five of our choices for a solid evening's entertainment, let us know if there are any others you'd recommend!

1. La La Land

It seems like only five minutes ago that La La Land was not winning Best Picture at the Oscars, and Netflix has been very quick off the mark to nab it to the streaming service. This heartwarming flick is the musical for those that don't like musicals and will have you tapping your feet along as you watch the effortless talent of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone find themselves torn between ambition and love.

2. The Good Place

This may be about death but don't let that put you off. This American comedy first aired stateside last year, but Netflix are streaming the second season week by week this side of the pond, while season one was added in September. It's created by Parks and Recreation's Mike Schur and stars Kristin Bell as a woman who accidentally finds herself in the 'good place' after her death following a mistaken identity, but becomes determined to hold onto her spot there. Ted Danson also stars and sure who doesn't love good old Ted. It's the second season when this show really comes into its own however so do stick with it.

3. When Harry Met Sally

This classic arrived on the streaming service recently giving you just the excuse you need to re-watch - for our money - one of the greatest romcoms ever made. It's funny, it's smart, it's Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal at their best and we would challenge anybody that would dare pigeonhole this to a 'chick-flick' ranking as it's one to be enjoyed by all. We'll have what she's having.

4. Gilmore Girls

Look it, there's never a bad time to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls, especially now that creator Amy Sherman-Palladino very much plans on returning with another season at some point. It's the warm hug of TV shows that you should watch curled up on the couch, with a mug of hot chocolate, and like us, imagine how lovely a life we would all live if we had Stars Hollow as our hometown.

5. Step Brothers

This is one of those few movies you can happily watch time and time again and even gets funnier with each viewing. It's up there with Elf as one of Will Ferrell's best and John C. Reilly is his perfect partner in crime. They play two man-children who are forced to come together when Ferrell's mother and Reilly's father get married. It's jam-packed with quotable one-liners and is probably the closest thing the noughties gave us to a Dumb and Dumber.
