'Luther' originally ran for five seasons on the BBC , from 2010 to 2019. It's now getting the movie treatment for Netflix.
The script has been written by series creator Neil Cross. Jamie Payne, who directed the show’s final season, will also direct the film.
Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis will also star as the two main villains in the film.
The film will be made by Netflix in association with the BBC. Cross and Elba are also producing, along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment. Dan Finlay is executive producing for Chernin Entertainment, along with Kris Thykier and BBC Studios’ Priscilla Parish.
When asked about the movie last year, Elba stated, "With film, the sky is the limit. You can be a little bit more bold with the storylines, and a little bit more international, and a little more up the scale. But John Luther is always going to be John Luther."
There is no release date for the 'Luther' film at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates.
