Based on the DC comic book by Jeff Lemire, here's a glimpse of what to expect from the eagerly-anticipated series.

In our first 'Sweet Tooth' trailer, we're introduced to a fantasy where a hybrid species exists in our human-dominated world. And it's all narrated by the rugged voice of James Brolin.

The new Netflix Original series brings the pages of Jeff Lemire's DC comic book to life, as these mythical hybrids, which are part human, part animal, begin to emerge in our world. The main character of the tale will be a young boy named Gus, who is still figuring himself out. Christian Convery ('Beautiful Boy') will play the lead.

Joining James and Christian in the fantasy series will be Will Forte ('SNL' and 'The Last Man on Earth'), Nonso Anozie (Xaro Xhoan Daxos from 'Game of Thrones'), and Adeel Akhtar ('Four Lions' and 'The Big Sick').

You might have noticed that Robert Downey Jr is also attached to the project, but this time he's been behind the camera as an executive producer. Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz, Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran were also execs on the series.

The official Netflix synopsis for 'Sweet Tooth' is as follows:

Ten years ago "The Great Crumble" wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus' origins, Jepperd's past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

'Sweet Tooth' arrives on Netflix on June 4.
