The repercussions of Netflix doc 'The Tinder Swindler' are still being felt as "Simon Leviev" is being sued by the diamond family he took the name of.

Simon Leviev's real name is Shimon Hayut. According to 'The Tinder Swindler' doc, he purported to be the son of Russian-Israeli diamond mogul Lev Leviev to con women out of millions of dollars.

In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Lev Leviev and his family have filed suit against Shimon Hayut for allegedly impersonating them and benefiting financially from using their last name.

The lawsuit was filed in Tel Aviv, Israel. It claims that Hayut has been "cunningly using false words, claiming to be a member of the Leviev Family."

The claim continues: "for a long time, he [Simon Leviev] has been making false representations as being the son of Lev Leviev and receiving numerous benefits (including material ones)."

In 'The Tinder Swindler', a number of women accused Shimon Hayut of using his false identity to initially charm them, then ask for loans of large amounts of money which he'd never return.

It is estimated that he swindled $10 million from people across the globe.

The lawsuit claims that Hayut "defrauded, cheated, conned, falsified, and hurt women, men and businesses" around the world.

It states: "The defendant used the dating application 'Tinder' to locate women who he then emotionally manipulated, cunningly bamboozled of funds, and eventually convinced to transfer large sums of money to him under the guise of being on the run from individuals intending on hurting him."

Attorney Guy Ophir, who represents the Leviev family, told PEOPLE that: "this legal action is only the beginning of a number of lawsuits that my firm is currently working on."

They'll also be filing a monetary suit against Hayut and any other affiliate that works with him, including some websites that have joint ventures with Hayut.

In December 2019, Shimon Hayut was convicted of fraud, theft, and forgery and sentenced to 15 months in prison. However, he was released after five months.

Hayut has not responded to the lawsuit.
