Ryan Reynolds has dropped a not-so-subtle clue as to how he's going to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Is Deadpool gearing up for an appearance in 'Loki' season two? Let's speculate.
We've known for quite some time that Deadpool survived the 20th Century Fox acquisition by Disney of 2019, presumedly one of the only few mutants to make it out of the garbage of fire that was becoming Fox's X-Men universe. However, we also learned just a couple of months ago that Hugh Jackman's Logan/Wolverine also survived, and both will return to the screen for 'Deadpool 3'.
But - all signs are pointing to Deadpool being introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe before this next solo outing - at least, that's what we think.
Ryan Reynolds imploded Twitter during the early hours of this morning by replying to a tweet from an account known as "Miss Minutes". Fans of the Disney+ series 'Loki' will remember the character (voiced by Tara Strong), who is an animated AI who is basically the mascot of the Time Variant Authority (TVA).
Miss Minutes' tweeted a "Hey there" to the official Deadpool Twitter account - but they ended up getting a response from the actor who plays the Merc with a Mouth instead.
As if that wasn't enough fan-baiting, Miss Minutes then replied to Reynolds with a series of emojis, including a love heart and a clock. Naturally, everyone is speculating that this means Deadpool is about to have a crossover with Loki - or at least he's about to cross paths with the mysterious organisation, potentially getting arrested just like Loki did in season one?
Tom Hiddleston's 'Loki' will be back for season two at some point in the new year, aiming for a summer 2023 release. The series will continue the story that was set up at the end of season one, which introduced Jonathan Majors' Kang as "He Who Remains", the one pulling the strings at the TVA with his time-travelling abilities. Kang will be the main villain in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania', which will be the first Marvel Phase Five film to be released next year, and speculation is rife that Loki will appear.
'Deadpool 3' is still very far away, with a release date of September 2024 attached to it, meaning we have nearly two years to set up Deadpool's rightful place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's plenty of time for some madcap misadventures and misdirections, right?
