The breakout actor from ‘Bridgerton’ will return to Netflix in the future to lead a heist movie, directed by the ‘Fargo’ creator.
When it was released late last year (a genius move by Netflix, might we add), little did we know just how massive ‘Bridgerton’ would become. The period drama from Shondaland has become the most-watched TV series on the streaming platform ever (although ‘Squid Game’ could potentially overtake it), while also launching the cast’s profiles to dizzying heights. One of the actors, Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett in season one, has landed his follow-up Netflix gig and its one we’re quite excited about.
With his character unlikely to return to ‘Bridgerton’ next season, due to Jonathan Bailey’s character of Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton, being the main focus, this significantly frees Page up for more diverse roles, specifically ones which are action-packed.
A far cry from his days on the Shondaland series, the next role for Regé-Jean Page on Netflix will be in heist movie from Emmy- winning 'Fargo' creator Noah Hawley. Details about the untitled project are being kept under wraps, but the film will be an original heist thriller idea from the director and creator.
Hawley has been a highly-respected producer, writer and creator in Hollywood since his 'Fargo' TV series gained critical acclaim, which is based on the 1996 film of the same name by the Coen Brothers. He’s also written a number of successful novels, created FX’s 'Legion' TV series based in the world of the X-Men, and directed 'Lucy In The Sky' which starred Natalie Portman.
Hawley will also write and produce the Netflix crime film, alongside Anthony and Joe Russo who are attached as producers. Regé-Jean Page will be an executive producer on the thriller.
Page recently worked with the Russo Brothers on his next action feature, which is his first film role. 'The Gray Man' will star Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas and is expected to be released in 2022. He's also landed a role in the live-action adaptation of the popular role-playing game, 'Dungeons & Dragons'.
