After leaving the Royal Family just over six months ago, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially signed a production deal with Netflix to produce contet through their as-yet-unnamed production company.

In a statement given to the New York Times earlier today, Markle confirmed the rumours that she and her husband are joining Netflix as producers. "Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," the statement read. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."

In the same statement, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said that the company is "incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere."

This isn't the first big deal that Netflix has signed with major public figures. Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama signed lucrative deals with Netflix, with Michelle Obama's documentary, 'Becoming', focusing on her autobiography tour.

Since their exit from the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been under intense scrutiny from UK tabloids, which has itself resulted in numerous lawsuits against them for invasion of privacy. Not only that, with the former royal couple no longer in receipt of funding from the Royal Treasury, questions arose as to how their lifestyle would be funded going forward.

It's not yet clear how much the deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is worth, but the likelihood is that the figures are pretty spectacular. Netflix probably threw in a free subscription for them, too.

One less thing to pay for, right?
