'Better Call Saul' star Giancarlo Esposito says that the prequel series might be coming to an end soon.
As prequel series' go, 'Better Call Saul' has been one of the best. Having enjoyed a four-season run already, and a fifth already currently in the midst of production, it seems like a sixth season is as far as the series is going to get.
In an interview recently with Collider, Giancarlo Esposito, who plays part-time fast-food restaurant owner/part-time drug lord Gus Fring he spoke about how much more of Saul there is to come. He said "There will be six seasons. It seems like that's the way, the comfortable way, to end this show." Comparing the prequel series to what came before, he commented "If you look at the 'Breaking Bad' model, five years, five seasons, but it was really five and six."
The Hollywood Reporter have asked for a confirmation from AMC, but they have declined to comment. However, a source told the outlet that "the show's endgame is by no means set in stone."
If it turns out to be true, that means 'Better Call Saul' garnered one more season than the series it was based on. 'Breaking Bad' starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul lasted five seasons between 2008 to 2013, although technically season five was split into two parts. All in all, both TV series will end up with around 62 episodes a-piece.
There's also a 'Breaking Bad' sequel movie currently in the works, with Paul intending to reprise his role as down-and-out Jesse Pinkman. Read our argument against a movie here.
But for now, it looks like we'll have at least two more seasons of the hit show to look forward to. With four seasons already available on Netflix, season five of 'Better Call Saul' is expected to arrive at some point in early 2020.
