Following the series' cancellation at Netflix, there seems to be a new home from where the Charlie Cox-led action series can continue.
Marvel fans and those who have felt hard done by the Netflix/Marvel cull of 2018, there's some pretty great news on the horizon. According to sources, a 'Daredevil' Disney+ series is in development.
Word from Variety is that Matt Corman and Chris Ord ('Covert Affairs') are attached to write and executive produce the production, with Charlie Cox once again believed to be on board the project as the masked vigilante.
Although nothing has been confirmed by Disney or Marvel yet, it's looking likely that we'll get a continuation of the Man Without Fear's storyline from Hell's Kitchen in New York City. Earlier this year, the three seasons of 'Daredevil', which were previously owned by Netflix, arrived on Disney+. 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'Iron Fist', 'The Punisher' and 'The Defenders' were also added to the library of the streaming service.
Speculation has been rife that Cox would once again be getting his own 'Daredevil' Disney+ series, and this is the first near confirmation we've got since his brief cameo appearance as attorney Matt Murdock in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. Another star from the series, Vincent D’Onofrio, also appeared in Disney+'s 'Hawkeye', further fuelling rumours of a future 'Daredevil' project on the horizon.
Fans of the original Netflix series, which consisted of 39 episodes between 2015 and 2018, were left stunned and disappointed when it was announced Daredevil would not be returning after season three. However, it was all due to Disney preparing to launch their own streaming service. They've certainly got the fans on board - so why not make multiple seasons for us, Disney?
Should this 'Daredevil' Disney+ news be set in stone in the near future, here's hoping that it lives up to fan expectations. The Netflix series didn't hold back on being a brutal, raw retelling of the attorney/vigilante's story - something that Disney is not known for. So far, all of the Disney+/MCU series, except 'Moon Knight' (16+), have been given a 12+ age rating; 'Daredevil' has an 18+ rating.
Earlier this year, Cox teased that "something else" was in the pipeline for 'Daredevil'; he also said that the vigilante's story should continue years later.
Disney+ debuted the first trailer for 'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law' earlier this week, with some fans speculating that either Matt Murdock or Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones could make an appearance, given their similar interests in slapping people with the hand of justice.
