'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar' is getting the big screen treatment on Netflix.

Eccentric filmmaker Wes Anderson is set to adapt a Roald Dahl creation for Netflix in the near future, starring one of Hollywood's biggest names.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been lined up to lead the cast, with no other names attached at present. Known for his role as Stephen Strange in the MCU at present, and his numerous acting nominations for titles such as 'The Imitation Game' and 'Sherlock', this will mark the actor's first collaboration with the acclaimed director.

Roald Dahl's novel 'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar' is a collection of seven short stories, geared more towards an adult audience than his other works, and is a work of both fact and fiction with some stories in the novel being autobiographical in nature.

Wes Anderson's most recent release 'The French Dispatch' once again uses his trademark vision and style, but also utilises an episodic format that will prove useful in the case of this new project. Of course, this also isn't the first time that Wes Anderson has adapted a Roald Dahl classic, either, having helmed 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' in 2009. Will there be a story told in stop motion for this new Netflix release? It's probably safer to assume that there will be.

Last year, Netflix acquired the entire works of Roald Dahl, with many exciting projects influenced on the famed children's author's works in the pipeline. Another quirky director, Taika Waititi, is busy working on projects based in the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' world.

In terms of who will join Benedict Cumberbatch in this Netflix feature, it's probably a safe bet that at least one or two frequent Anderson collaborators will be given a look-in. Expect an appearance from either Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson or Adrien Brody somewhere along the way.

Anderson is currently filming his next project, 'Asteroid City', in Spain. It stars the aforementioned Murray, Swinton, Schwartzman, Brody, with newcomers to the Anderson world Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Margot Robbie, Sophia Lillis and Maya Hawke.
