Netflix action movie 'Extraction' is getting a follow-up.
'Extraction' stars Chris Hemsworth as a mercenary tasked with rescuing the teenage son of a crime lord.
His fate was ambiguous at the end. But it has been confirmed that he will indeed return as protagonist Tyler Rake.
The action flick has proven to be a major hit for Netflix. It is almost the biggest-ever film premiere on the streaming service, with 90 million households projected to watch it in the first 30 days.
The film’s writer, Joe Russo, has closed a deal to write another installment, reports Deadline.
Russo previously worked with Hemsworth on 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame'.
'Extraction' marked the directorial debut of Sam Hargrave, who also worked on the 'Avengers' movies in their fight choreography and stunts departments.
Hargrave is likely to return to helm the sequel, but this hasn't been officially confirmed.
Russo says: "We are in the formative stages of what the story can be.
"We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience."
