Ricky Gervais' Netflix series will return again - but only for one more season.
When 'After Life' season three was announced a few months ago, the news came as quite the shock. You see, many of Gervais' previous comedy sitcoms - 'The Office', 'Extras', and 'Derek' - all finished up after two seasons.
However, with one of the most-watched TV shows on their hands, Netflix weren't going to let the comic go without squeezing out a third season of the dark comedy. And yes, the next instalment of the series will be its last.
According to The Mirror, Garvais said: "I’ve already made my mind up there won’t be a four. And you do put those things out there to make you remember as it’s tempting but... there’s an old saying that 'to lead the orchestra, you’ve got to turn your back on the audience'.
"That’s true. The audience think they want another one, but they’re not sure. So you’ve got to be careful."
Teasing fans of the series on social media recently, Gervais posted a photo holding the script of episode one of season three. Celebrity fans such as Fearne Cotton, KJ Apa, and his 'After Life' co-star Jo Hartley all commented their joy at seeing the tease.
Expect more details of 'After Life' season three in 2021. Until then however, we have a Christmas special to look forward to this winter.
The comedian also did a recent Q&A with fans live on Twitter, which, if you have a spare half hour, is worth the watch for his laugh alone.
