The third season of '13 Reasons Why' is said to be hitting Netflix later this year.
The first two seasons of the show were a big hit and according to reports, almost all the cast will return for '13 Reasons Why' part 3.
However, Katherine Langford, who played Hannah, previously announced that she won’t be returning.
The series is based on the novel 'Thirteen Reasons Why' by Jay Asher. It follows the aftermath of a high schooler's suicide on her classmates and family. The student, Hannah, leaves behind a series of tapes explaining the reasons why she took her life. The effects of her death on friend Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) are particularly focussed on.
Showrunner Brian Yorkey previously said that the new season will be "about these characters, and not necessarily a new set of reasons or a new set of tapes. Someone else might do that, but that’s not my job to do that."
Season two ended with the cliffhanger of a thwarted school shooting so its aftermath will likely be the pick-up point for season three.
The first season generated controversy over its portrayal of suicide and self-harm. Many felt the dark and adult subject matter was inappropriate for the young adult audiences watching the series. More advisory warnings were added to the show as a result. Additionally, an aftershow which included mental health professionals talking about issues addressed in the series hit Netflix alongside season 2.
The release date for season 3 has not yet been confirmed. But ahead of the show's return, here are 15 things you may not have known about it.
