You certainly can't accuse Zoot Woman of not being upfront about their influences - everything about them screams Duran Duran, from their flashy white suits to their electronic, new romantic music. Derivative they might be then, but they're certainly not lacking in imagination - this debut album is designed as a concept record about the media, and it works surprisingly well. A catchy mix of Casio keyboards and layered harmonies, this is straightforward, enjoyable pop that doesn't require you to leave your brain at the door. No wonder Madonna loves them so much.
