Just when you thought the world was safe from another James Arthur album… be afraid. Be very afraid.

The 2012  X Factor winner - who has since denounced the competition since winning - was dropped from his label Syco last summer. His various run-ins on Twitter saw him quit the site, although he has returned to it since.

The 27-year-old has been very quiet since, but took to Twitter over the weekend to announce that he's signed a new worldwide deal with a major label, Columbia Records - although it is the German branch of the label.

He thanked his fans and his publishers, which he claimed "helped me turn it around."

His second studio album will be released in 2016.

Somewhere, Matt Cardle has found a corner to cry in.
