There's a new Libertines album in the works, according to Carl Barat - who says that he has already written five new songs with his co-conspirator Pete Doherty.

Doherty is currently in drug rehab for heroin addiction in Thailand, and Barat is currently visiting him in Bangkok and writing with him there. "Plan A is to write new things," he told NME. "There's about five new tunes on the work bench at this stage and that's just from having been in each other's company, not even sitting down to write. One's called 'Woke Up Again', but that's a working title."

The Libertines, whose last album was released in 2004, reformed earlier this year for a gig in Hyde Park and have presumably decided to keep their reunion intact, playing a ten-date European tour in September and October.

Barat fronted Dirty Pretty Things from 2005 - 2008 before embarking on an unsuccessful solo career with a self-titled album in 2010. Doherty has fared somewhat better with several solo releases as well as his work with Babyshambles, who released their third album 'Sequel to the Prequel' in 2013.
