Arctic Monkeys will be celebrating after this evening's BRIT Awards, if the bookies are to be believed, after being named odds-on favourites to scoop gongs tonight for both Best British Group and Best British Album at tonight's ceremony in London.

The BRITs have traditionally been kind to Arctic Monkeys and, if they do the double this evening, they'll have won a pretty damn impressive seven awards from a total of nine nomination since their first appearance on the big stage in 2006.

Alex Turner and his band will apparently face stiff competition from One Direction (!) in the Best British Group section, while Bastille look set to provide the stiffest opposition in the Best British Album category. Speaking of Bastille, the oddsmakers seem to be confident that they have done enough to earn the Best Breakthrough Band award.

Other candidates for the British Album category include David Bowie for The Next Day - and they seem to think Bowie is a lock for Best British Male with his odds currently set for 1/3 on. Should he be successful tonight Bowie, at 67 years old, will be the oldest ever recipient of a BRIT Award.

The odds also suggest that Ellie Goulding will win the Best British Female award while the fan-voted category for Best Music Video will almost certainly be won by One Direction, given that the category is decided by fan vote on Twitter.

Also, if you're curious, has been made the 3/1 favourite to host next year's incarnation of the awards.
