Are my eyes deceiving me or is that the...the sun I see? It is! Why, it's such a nice day, some people here at entertainment.ie towers wore jackets in this morning not coats! The powers that be must know that Beyoncé is in town and are pulling out all the stops so as not to incur her wrath. Please stay Beyoncé, stay forever and be our friend.

The Independent Woman herself is on our emerald isle until the 12th. What we wouldn't give to be at her show grooving along to Single Ladies on Saturday, March 8th - which just so happens to be International Women's Day. Perhaps some of you are catching the lovely Julie Feeney instead? She's special guest speaker and performer at a show celebrating the fairer sex in the RDS (Saturday, March 8th.)

Anyway, those of you who are going to see Queen B in The 02 are a seriously privledged bunch; it's going to be ah-maze-ing. But for those of you who are not, it's ok, don't be blue (in the sad sense not as in Blue Ivy who we would very much like to be) there's loads to do around the country this weekend. Let us present you with a few ideas to whet your appetite for a fun-filled coupla days.

Friday, March 7th

What? DJ Set: BP Fallon

Where? Pacino's, Suffolk Street, Dublin

What time? 10.30pm

BP Fallon has been spinning around the world for years and years and years; he's been a DJ all his life! In the past he's hobnobbed with rock and rock titans, as a member of John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band and as Mental Guru to Marc Bolan and T. Rex to name but two of his many ventures. If you want to see a legend in motion, don't miss this gig.

What? Comedy: Jack Wise plus Guests

Where? Laughter Lounge

What time? 8.30pm

How much? €25

Jack Wise thinks it's time you were introduced to a 'modern day vaudevillian' - that's him - and we agree. Be wowed by the self-proclaimed magician, ventriloquist, pickpocket and sword swallower (ooo!) and then let Gerry McBride and Gar Murran (winner of the 2013 Irish Comedy Awards) tickle the bones you have that are funny.

What? Gig: O Emporer

Where? Cork Opera House, Cork

What time? 8pm

How much? €17.50

This Choice Music Prize nominees will play their biggest headline show to date at Cork's Opera House tonight. The Waterford lads are known for their 'expansive live sound' so why would you want to miss that, especially if you're just knocking about somewhere in the Rebel County, looking for an epic way to kick off your weekend. Here's the answer.

Saturday, March 8th

What? Play: Faith

Where? Civic Theatre, Tallaght

What time? 8pm

How much? €16 - 18

This new play by Paul Meade and starring Don Wycherly (Bachelor's Walk, Ballykissangel) Michael Glenn Murphy and Jennifer O’Dea closes at the Civic tonight but don't worry if you can't make this particular show, it's going on a nationwide tour so you can catch it in Letterkenny, Mullingar, Dun Laoghaire, Newbridge, Ballymun, Roscommon, Drogheda and Bray throughout March. We highly recommend checking out new works by Irish playwrights and this one is a good 'un. Find out more by clicking the link above.

What? Gig: Hawk, Twenty Six Red & more

Where? Whelan's

What time? 8pm

How much? FREE!

So it's Saturday night and you're in your bedsit (or Mammy's front room) drinking a can of Dutch moping about your lack of funds and how you can't do anything. Snap out of it, silly billy, you can of course. Head down to old reliable Whelan's and rock along with these cool new bands for nuthin'. You'll have seen the next big thing (probably) while everyone else was stuck in the O2 missing out! Score.

What? Exhibition: Maciej Pestka: The Life of Psy

Where? The Library Project, Temple Bar, Dublin

This is your LAST CHANCE to see Maciej Pestka's The Life of Psy; it closes tomorrow! It's a really interesting project which tells the story of 'how the life of a seemingly unknown Frenchman changed overnight in a frenzied case of mistaken identity. From a consultant in Cork, Ireland to a celebrity in Barcelona, the document of this overnight success is now being released a year after the original event.' Find out more here.

What? Gig: God Is An Astronaut

Where? The Roisin Dubh, Galway

What time? 8pm

How much? €14 - €16

If you're planning on going out in Galway the Roisin will probably already on your mind so get there early and witness what's sure to be another legendary GIAA performance.

Sunday, March 9th

What? Gig: Zrazy - Weekly Sunday Jazz

Where? Odessa Club and Restaurant, Dublin

What time? 4pm

How much? €5

What, you haven't gone to one of the weekly Sunday jazz sessions with Zrazy at Odessa yet? Well, why not go this Sunday, you've nothing to loose (and it's only a fiver, that's very good.) While away the Sunday cobwebs in the classiest way.

What? Comedy: Andrew Maxwell - Banana Kingdom

Where? Set Theatre, Kilkenny

What time? 8pm

How much? €18

Double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Andrew Maxwell is on a mission to turn the frowns disfiguring Irish faces all over the country upside down. He has embarked on a 27 venue tour and finds himself in Kilkenny this Sunday. If you're in the same vicinity, start next week on the right foot and laugh your way into Monday.
