Jay Z's latest album, 4:44, has been making a huge splash with its use of music videos and, far and away, Moonlight is probably the most subversive and intriguing out of the whole album.
It's basically a p*ss-take of Friends, but the second half goes off into a different territory and becomes, well, you can judge for yourself as the video has now been made available on YouTube following a week or so of exclusivity on Jay Z's streaming service, TIDAL.
The video itself was directed by Alan Yang, who's best known as the co-creator of Netflix's Master Of None with Aziz Ansari. Not only that, the video stars a number of well-known actors, including Get Out stars LilRel Howery and Lakeith Stanfield as Joey and Chandler respectively, comedians Tiffany Haddish and Jerrod Carmichael as Phoebe and Ross, Insecure's Issa Rae as Rachel, and Westworld's Tessa Thompson as Monica.
On top of all that, the song itself is pretty great too.
Take a look.
