It really is a wake up call when you see somebody almost three times your age embody almost thirty times more energy on the dance floor than you could ever hope to have.
The video for the 1981 hit single 'Hey Mickey' saw a youthful Toni Basil showcasing her boundless energy and enthusiasm which was needed to match one of the catchiest songs of the era.
Thirty five years on, it looks like Basil (now 72) has lost none of the enthusiasm and has still got most of the moves that made her famous at her disposal. This recent video of her performing in a dance studio proves that age is but just a number.
The high kicks from the 'Hey Mickey' video might be beyond her now but the energy and exuberance that she still embodies should be an inspiration to us all.
