Lil Wayne has been no stranger to controversy in the past, but the rapper's comments on the Black Lives Matter movement have seen him come under fire in recent times.
The rapper has previously gone on record as saying that he didn't understand the movement and that he thought racism was 'over' - and now, in a new interview on ABC's Nightline, he has called BLM 'dumb-ass sh*t' and said that he does not 'feel connected' to it.
Referring to the incidents of police violence against black people, he said "That just sounds weird, I don’t know, that you put a name on it. It’s not a name, it’s not ‘whatever, whatever,’ it’s somebody got shot by a policeman for a f**ked up reason.”
He added: "I am a young, black, rich motherf***er,” he said. “If that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf***ers matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”
Pitchfork report that in the full segment, he removed his microphone and left the interview early.
