Paul McCartney surprised New Yorkers yesterday afternoon with a secret show in the middle of Manhattan's Times Square in what was basically the world's most high profile busking performance! Watch the fan shot footage below.
The former Beatle played a brief 15 minute set shortly after 1pm local time, playing four songs from his upcoming album 'New' on a hastily arranged stage on top of a flatbed truck.
The performance attracted a huge crowd, as you might imagine, and McCartney joked on stage that he'd finally achieved his 15 minutes of fame, "Mr. Warhol predicted I'd get 15 minutes of fame. This is it!", he said.
This is Macca's second impromptu show in the last couple of days. He played a 13-song set of Beatles and Wings songs to the students of a Queens high school on Wednesday, taking in a Q&A session afterwards.
McCartney 'New' is released next week and will feature production from the very hip team of Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth and Ethan Johns. You can get a taster from the new record below.
