Oh dear. When you have a bona fide living music legend knocking on the door of your party and asking to come in, the last thing you want to do is turn them away.

However, that's precisely what happened to Paul McCartney on Monday night, when he tried to get in to a post-Grammys party hosted by American rapper Tyga.

What's more, he had Beck - yes, that Beck, the one that's one of the most well-known indie artists in music - in tow, as well as Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters, and they were also refused.

TMZ had footage of the trio trying to gain access to the party, with McCartney repeating Mark Ronson's name and saying 'How VIP do we gotta get?!' before turning to Beck and saying 'We need another hit, guys! We need another hit! Work on it!'

It was later revealed that he was trying to get into the wrong party (held by Mark Ronson at a different location), but still... cringe. Has the doorman never heard of this little band called The Beatles?

Meanwhile, Tyga has denied having anything to do with the whole sorry mess:
