It must be strange being Mariah Carey. You have untold wealth, an army of staff to see to your every desire, a voice which can presumably laugh - but the facet of her character which we probably find the most interesting is her strange ability to make people cry, just by entering a room. The gag was a simple one. Orchestrated by NBC chat show host Jimmy Fallon, a gaggle of Carey fans were invited to a listening party of her new material and Mariah would swan in microphone in hand, hit a few high notes, shake a few peasants' hands and head home to her penthouse for tea.
The waterworks opened for quite a few of Mariah's fans when she shows up and MC seemed to be moved by the sight of human tears in front of her. Bless.
