Look, there is absolutely no disputing the powerhouse, legendary status of Aretha Franklin. If she can make the POTUS cry with her rendition of 'Natural Woman' as well as rip the p*ss out of her 'diva' reputation in a Snickers ad, she's alright with us.
However, there is a line and Franklin may have crossed it with her rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner at an American football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions yesterday.
Given that it was a special Thanksgiving game, they enlisted her to do the honours. Some people thought it was beautiful, others reckoned it was the most painfully drawn-out version of the US National Anthem ever. Even some of the players looked bemused as it went on... and on.... and on.
