Blur frontman Damon Albarn has released a 20-second video teaser for his forthcoming debut solo album. The black and white clip shows Albarn, from behind, playing a keyboard before revealing text which reads: "Damon Albarn, first solo album, coming 2014".
Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, Albarn revealed that he was working on his debut solo effort, which was characterised as being "sort of folk soul."
Albarn has made the record with Richard Russell, the head of XL Records, and said that because solo albums can be so tricky to produce he decided to split the production duties with Russell which allowed him more time to work on the song writing.
"Making a solo record can be such a disaster", Albarn was quoted as saying. "I thought if we were going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it - take the responsibility away from myself. Richard does the kind of rhythmic side of it and I do everything else."
Albarn also confirmed that he will embark on a solo tour in 2014, during which he'll be playing songs from all aspects of his career; Blur, Gorillaz and the new solo material - also confirming that Blur will be working on a new album once his solo album is released.
