There's little denying that this year's Glastonbury belonged to the Rolling Stones. Having somehow managed to avoid playing the UK's most prestigious festival over the course of their 50+ year history, the Stones made up for lost time with a two hour set on Friday night which was - for better or worse - the undoubted highlight of Glastonbury 2013.

Such was the interest in their performance a total of 2.6 million viewers watched the performance live on BBC TV, pipping Mumford & Sons' viewing figures by over 400,000 and showing that, in fact, there is still a little bit of justice in this world.

Questions were inevitably raised in the run-up to this year's Glastonbury whether or not the Rolling Stones - now in their 70's, of course - have what it taken to headline a modern festival and it appears that this question was answered with a resounding 'YES'. 100,000 people were in attendance at the Pyramid Stage, along with several other thousands who will claim to have been there.

The Stones pumped out 20 songs in a set heavily featuring their hits from yesteryear but still finding place for their excellent recent single 'Doom and Gloom'.

Did they live up to the expectations? Well a 50 year wait is a very long one no matter which way you look at it but anyone who was there will report back honestly: it was a Glastonbury 'moment'.
