By now most people know what they think of Posh Spice, her husband, their lifestyle and just about everything else about them. Which is why VB the album feels less like an artistic statement than a hook on which to hang yet another million tabloid stories. For the record, it's not as bad as its detractors would wish: the songs (mostly lightweight RandB) don't take themselves too seriously and the production values are high. On the other hand, there's absolutely nothing here that Madonna, Destiny's Child and even Mariah Carey haven't already done approximately a million times better before, and the empty lyrics about girl power really are past their sell-by date. Not a travesty, just not very memorable.
