Grand Central are the Manchester dwelling record label who produce the smoothest in UK hip-hop. Rae and Christian, who run the lable, are DJs and producers with superb ears for a tune, and this compilation, the second instalment, is testament to that.
The stand-out tracks here fall into two categories: those that feature quality, under-appreciated US rappers [Kriminul on Only Child's 'Crazy Rhymin', Q 'n' C on Rae and Christian's 'Anything You Want', and Afu Ra with Funkyfreshfew on 'Drop a Jewel'] and those, like RandC, who have already established a reputation with fine full-lengths [Aim, Mr. Scruff]. Central Heating Vol 2 is lounge-core hip-hop to the extreme.
