This 'celebration' of the 30th anniversary of guitar legend Jimi Hendrix's death is a classic example of why most music fans view tribute albums with a mixture of scorn and suspicion. The artists on show here - Buddy Miles, Vernon Reid, Aynsley Lister - are distinctly B-list and their performances are workmanlike at best, depressingly soulless at worst. The problem is that old blues classics such as Voodoo Chile require truly exceptional playing to bring them to life - and they don't get them here. Not worth the effort.
