Ten years ago some of the best bands in Britain each recorded a track in a single day in aid of War Child. The result was that rare thing, a charity record that was also a pretty good album. This follow-up has already been released online, but for more old-fashioned consumers it's good to see it available in the shops as well. The big beasts (Coldplay, Radiohead, Gorillaz) all contribute original songs, while the young guns are more reliant on covers - Keane do Elton John and Kaiser Chiefs tackle Stevie Wonder. Pete Doherty fans, meanwhile, will be wondering why the Babyshambles album is taking so long when he's evidently capable of knocking out an excellent song in 24 hours. With a strong supporting cast bringing up the rear (Elbow, Bloc Party, Razorlight) and the quality almost universally high, there's absolutely no excuse not to buy this album.
