The proposed album cover for Kanye West's upcoming fifth album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' has reportedly been banned in the US.

The artwork in question is a painting of a naked Kanye in a provocative pose with a monster, intended to be the Pheonix from West's recent Runaway film, here depicted as a naked woman with a tail and wings. Of course, the rap star immediately went to Twitter to post the picture and express his discontent with the situation.

"Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!!" he tweeted. "Banned in the USA!!! They don't want me chilling on the couch with my Phoenix!"

West also pointed out that plenty of other albums feature photographs of naked people, citing Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and its swimming baby as an example.
"In the '70s album covers had actual nudity... It's so funny that people forget that... Everything has been so commercialised now ... So Nirvana can have a naked human being on their cover, but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings."

Kanye is supposedly being advised against using the artwork but a source at his label told the LA Times that "if he wanted to do it, the label would stand behind him".

'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' is due for release in Ireland on November 19th.
