U2 have announced the first dates of their much-anticipated residency in Las Vegas later this year.
The Dublin rock band will be the first to play 'Live at Sphere' - the venue that is being touted as 'the world's most cutting edge venue', located at The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.
Bono and co. will bring their 'U2: UV Achtung Baby' show to Sin City this autumn, having initially teased the shows - their first in four years - with a Super Bowl commercial in February.
They'll play Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th; Thursday, October 5th, Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th.
Tickets start at $140 and are being sold via Ticketmaster's Verified Fan programme. There are pre-sales for both those who register with Verified Fan, and subscribers to U2.com. If there are any tickets left (very unlikely, to be honest) they will go on general sale via Ticketmaster.com this Friday at 10am.
However, as previously announced, Larry Mullen will not be joining them for these gigs, as he is taking time away from the band to have surgery due to a drumming injury. He will be replaced by Dutch drummer Bram van den Berg.
Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton said:
"U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert… We’re the right band, ACHTUNG BABY the right album, and Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level… That’s what U2’s been trying to do all along with our satellite stages and video installations, most memorably on the ZOO TV Tour, which ended in Tokyo 30 years ago this Fall.
Sphere is more than just a venue, it’s a gallery and U2’s music is going to be all over the walls."
