US rapper Tyler, the Creator has come under fire after being reported to the police for allegedly going on a misogynistic rant on stage in Sydney.
Talitha Stone, a member of feminist activism group Collective Shout, claimed to have been "petrified" following abuse directed at her by the rapper. Stone has been part of a social media campaign to have the rapper banned from appearing in Australia due to his history of extreme and potentially offensive lyrics.
Stone made it clear on Twitter she would be attending the Tyler's concert, saying on Twitter: "have to visit @Culturekings tomoz to protest against @fucktyler, he will be there at midday. I think they need educating on #misogyny."
Stone attended the concert at the Enmore Theatre in Newtown, Sydney, during which the rapper launched into a foul-mouthed tirade towards Stone. It's presently unclear whether or not Tyler knew Stone was in attendance.
He was quoted as saying on stage: "Fucking bitch, I wish she could hear me call her a bitch, too, fucking whore. Yeah, I got a sold-out show right now bitch. Hey this fucking song is dedicated to you, you fucking c*nt."
Speaking to Guardian Australia, Stone said: "My heart was absolutely pounding as I heard him start to mention me. I was petrified. I was standing among the crowd of people who were chanting along with threats towards me."
The venue and concert promoters declined to comment on the matter, while New South Wales police confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
