If nothing else, the entertainment at Trump's inauguration in January 2017 should have been the only harbinger that we needed.

Now, however, it has been revealed that Trump actually had a few well-known names on his wishlist (none of whom actually played). They included The Killers, Celine Dion, Meat Loaf, KISS and Aerosmith, according to a new book, 'Melania & Me'.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was previously a senior advisor to the First Lady, and the book throws up all kinds of interesting stories - not least regarding the inauguration. Wolkoff writes how they were working with Clive Davis's son Mitch and "trying to book some famous talent (we were hoping to book two or three acts from a list we’d drawn up featuring Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Kiss, the Killers, Meat Loaf, Mavis Staples, Pat Benatar, and Lynyrd Skynyrd)". She recalls complaining to Melania: "We don’t have any A-list performers locked in, or B-list for that matter… We don’t even have an office to work in!'”
Considering the lengthy list of musicians who have forbidden Trump from using their music in promotional rallies, it's not hugely surprising that they'd struggle to find top-quality acts.
