Like George W Bush, nu-metallers Tool seem to be one of those American phenomena that just don't travel very well - huge at home, they've never meant much to the disaffected teenagers here who should be their natural audience. Mind you, they certainly don't lack self-importance; this album took five years to make, lasts nearly 80 minutes and is laden down with progressive rock epics, full of fury and free of choruses. For people who think a metal Radiohead sounds like a really good idea, Christmas has come early; anyone else should approach with extreme caution.
