For all of the 'wear a white rose', 'wear black at the Golden Globes' and 'Time's Up' campaigns, it seems that there's still some way to go when it comes to equality in the entertainment industry.
You might imagine that the organisers of the Grammys would be delighted to have one of the biggest pop stars - who had one of the biggest pop albums of last year - perform at their ceremony, but stories have emerged about how and why Lorde turned down a chance to play 'Music's Biggest Night'.
According to Variety, the New Zealand pop star was asked to perform - but not on her own. Which may be understandable, you might think - until you learn that each of her fellow Album of the Year nominees (all male) were asked to play solo.
The group performance that Lorde was asked to take part in was a tribute to Tom Petty, singing his song 'American Girl', which "would have been an odd fit for the New Zealand-born singer". Can't say we disagree.
Lorde herself has not commented on the matter, but her mum made a point on Twitter...
