If you're a soundtracks aficionado, you'll be well aware that the music from Francis Ford Coppola's 'The Godfather' is up there with the all-time greats.

The vast majority of the film's score was composed by Nino Rota, an Italian composer who also composed for 'The Godfather Part II' as well as numerous other operas, ballets and soundtracks for films by Fellini and many other iconic names in film.

The RTE Concert Orchestra are presenting the Irish premiere of 'The Godfather' Live at the National Concert Hall on October 31st. The film will be projected on the big screen as the orchestra - conducted by Neil Thomas - performs the score live on stage.

This very same production sold out in London last year, so best get your tickets quickly if you're thinking of heading along; they're available from nch.ie. There'll be two performances on the day - a matinee at 3pm and an evening performance at 8pm.

Meanwhile, the little people in your life - or not - may be interested in the RTE Concert Orchestra's other upcoming soundtrack-related score. They'll perform the Irish premiere of Disney's 'Fantasia' on October 17th at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, at 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
