They released their first studio album in 1964 and their most recent in 2005, but The Rolling Stones are set to enter the studio next year to record another.

That's what Keith Richards said during an interview with The Quietus, at least.

Richards, who is currently promoting his new solo album 'Crosseyed Heart', said: "Yes! We must go in the studio! I was at a meeting with the lads three or four days ago where everybody said, 'Yes! We must go in the studio!'"

He added: "Where or when I can’t yet say but in the near future. At last I’ve got the boys wanting to get into the studio. They all have to want to do it at the same time. That’s the thing with guys – you can’t drag 'em in at gunpoint – but I’ve got the message that they want to. I’m hopeful, y’know?"

In another recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that he would like to get into the studio after the band finish their South American tour next March. "I"d love to get in the studio in April," he said. "But I know what those guys are like. When they finish a tour, they don’t want to do nothing!"

The band's last album was 2005's 'A Bigger Bang'.
