Just 700 fans were in attendance for what was most likely the most intimate Rolling Stones show in decades last night in Paris, their first concert in the French capital in more than five years. The band announced on Twitter that they would be a playing a brief 30 minute set in an unnamed venue (which turned out to be the Trabendo club) but, when all was said and done, Mick, Keith and co. had been on stage for almost 90 minutes.

The band hadn't played together since the culmination of their Bigger Bang tour in 2007. The gig was arranged as a warm-up show to the band's brief four gig tour that they will be embarking on in November in London and New Jersey.

"I can't believe we're all still standing up", joked the 69-year-old Mick Jagger on stage."You'd think by now one or two of us would be sitting down, but we're not", continued Jagger, who clearly wasn't thinking of drummer Charlie Watts sitting behind his kit.

Tickets for the gig were made available for just €15 and were sold in the Virgin Megastore at the Champs Elysees. Tickets for the band's upcoming London shows have fetched £375 per ticket.

Mick Jagger has said that a further tour, beyond the already announced dates, will be revealed soon. Slane, anyone?
