Irish fans of the Rolling Stones who were clinging on to a semblance of hope that Mick, Keith and co. might take the short trip over to our shores were today left disappointed when the band announced details of their 50 and Counting tour.

Just one European date has been included in the list so far (their first Hyde Park show in 44 years incidentally) with the rest confined to North America. Support for the London show on July 6th will come from The Vaccines, The Temper Trap, Gary Clark Jr. and King Charles, Palma Violets and more.

Speaking to BBC News, Mick Jagger said: " It's great to be playing the centre of London in July. it should be a beautiful evening. [The last gig there] was a free concert, Brian Jones had recently died. There were a lot of nerves; it was a crazy thing to do. In the end it was a landmark concert. I tend to choose my dresses at the last minute. I can still get into it, I'm not worried about that bit."

What do you think, is there any realistic chance of one last Rolling Stones gig in Ireland before the band eventually call it quits?
