The Erics take place in The Button Factory on January 29th and will see four of the country's most exciting musical acts entertain the crowd on the night.

Over the next few days, we'll grab a quick chat with each of them.

Today, we spoke to new Dublin rock band State Lights, who released their debut EP 'Breakout' last year and have been creating quite a buzz over the last few months . "It's one of the most exciting gigs of the year for us without doubt," frontman Shobsy told us. "We can't wait to be on the same bill as the likes of The Riptide Movement, Le Galaxie and Daithi."

You can read our chat with Daithí and Le Galaxie now, and check back over the next few days for our catch-ups with headliners (and Choice Music Prize nominees) The Riptide Movement. And don't forget that tickets for The Erics are available at a limited price now.

You're playing The Erics at the end of this month – what can we expect from your set?

People can expect to hear all the songs from our first release which is called 'The Breakout E.P'. We'll throw in one or two new tunes also!

For someone who's never heard State Lights' music, describe it in three words.

Expansive, melodic and uplifting.

What was your favourite album/gig of last year?

My favourite album of 2014 was 'Singles' by Future Islands and my favourite gig was The Academic live at the Grand Social, for sure!

What was the best gig that you played in 2014?

The most enjoyable gig for me was our headline show in the Button Factory back in September. Was really humbled by the turnout.

In an ideal world, what should we put on your Erics rider?

Hmm… I would say a bottle of Jameson, bacon fries and a micro pig to keep band spirit levels high!

What release/gig are you most looking forward to in 2015?

We will be trying to pop up at as many gigs as possible over the next couple of months.

What can we expect from State Lights in 2015 – is an album on the cards at any point?

We plan to have another E.P release, potentially before the summer.

What would most people be surprised to find out about State Lights?

Probably that we've only been together as a band for under a year!
