We're not quite sure how this came to pass but apparently Mike Tyson must be a fan of Ohioan garage rockers The Black Keys, as the band have announced their newest album directly via a cryptic Tweet from the former world heavyweight champion.
Tyson tweeted a the words 'Turn Blue' and a link to the below video, a trippy David Lynch-esque production which reveals that the band's eighth studio release will hit the shelves in the second week of May, with lead single 'Fever' set to debut on March 24th.
It's far from the traditional means most bands employ when announcing details of a new album but, let's be honest here, a Twitter announcement from Mike Tyson is a hell of a lot more memorable than the slew of vanilla press releases we receive here in the office every day and shows an admirable harnessing of the power of social media. Well played to whoever came up with that idea.
Turn Blue will be the first release since the BK's landed their biggest hit record yet, December 2011's Grammy-winning El Camino and, while it doesn't seem like all that much time has passed since it came out, this represents the longest gap between Black Keys releases in their history. And we can't bloody wait.
