Nope, you've not seeing things - this really is Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift has released the music video for her fourth single from her latest album, and boy does she look different. Adopting the persona of a dude for 'The Man', Swift is giving us serious Drag King energy.
Swift dons a prosthetic face, turning her into a man for the music video, singing along to lyrics such as: "I’d be a fearless leader / I’d be an alpha type / When everyone believes ya / What’s that like / I’m so sick of running as fast I can / Wondering if I’d get there quicker / If I was a man."
And truth be told, she looks incredibly convincing. The singer does several things throughout the video that is the "typical" thing for a man to be known for - such as peeing wherever he wants, getting praise for minding his child in public and getting lots of cheesy hi-5's (sure, it's a little bit over-the-top). We also see posters such as "Mr. Americana" throughout the video, which makes reference to her recent Netflix documentary.
The weirdest part of 'The Man' music video comes at the end when Swift's male version plays tennis. She appears as her normal self, while chatting to the male version of herself. Oh, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is revealed as the voice of her male counterpart.
This is all very hard to explain, so here's the full video for you to make your own judgement of.
Taylor Swift's 'The Man' is from her seventh studio album 'Lover'.
