Stevie Wonder has announced that he won't perform again in Florida again until the state's notorious 'Stand Your Ground' law is repealed. The law allows citizens the right to use deadly force to quell a perceived threat and it was a large part of the defence case of George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of Martin's murder.
Wonder made his statement on stage at a show in Quebec City last weekend, saying: "I decided today that until the 'Stand Your Ground' law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again. As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world."
The truth is that for those of you who've lost in the battle for justice, wherever that fits in any part of the world, we can't bring them back", Wonder continued. "What we can do is we can let our voices be heard. And we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody. That's what I know we can do."
Outrage over the Zimmerman/Martin verdict has been felt across the globe. Musicians such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, A Tribe Called Quest and Q-Tip are among those who've dedicated live performances to the late teenager, while many more famous names have shown their support on Twitter.
