You don't necessarily have to have departed this mortal coil to be honoured by the Grammys - but it helps if you're a bona fide superstar of music.
Elton John is being honoured with his own 'Grammy Salute' - i.e. a standalone concert that will take place just after next month's Grammys ceremony in New York - and a star-studded list of performers are stepping forward to help do the job.
The motley crew of musicians who will perform at Madison Square Garden on January 30th, including Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, John Legend, Kesha, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and Little Big Town.
It follows on from similar tribute concerts for the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Bee Gees and The Beatles, and will be filmed for TV broadcast by US network CBS.
Elton John himself will also perform on the night, while he is in 'discussions' to perform at the Grammys event, also held at Madison Square Garden, on January 28th.
