Dublin's live music fans were treated to an incredible (and secretive!) gig last night in The Odeon on Harcourt Street as part of Guinness Amplify.

Two of the UK's most successful acts of the past 18 months, Rudimental and Jess Glynne, were on hand to play as part of Guinness' new initiative to champion and nurture emerging talent in Ireland.

Previous concerts over the past few weeks included impromptu performances from the likes of Hozier, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Disclosure and Dan Croll in venues like Cork's DeBarra's and Dundalk's Spirit Store. Last night, though, it was the turn of the capital to get in on the action.

Word filtered out yesterday evening that Rudimental, Jess Glynne and UK DJ Kidnap Kid were in town and, as soon as it became clear that The Odeon on Harcourt Street was the host venue, music fans assembled in their droves outside the bar hoping to be one of the lucky few to gain entry for this most exclusive (and free!) of gigs.

After an opening set from Kidnap Kid, 24-year-old Londoner Jess Glynne took to the stage and played a selection of hits from her brief career thus far including Clean Bandit's smash hit 'Rather Be', on which she lent her vocals.

Then, as the clock edged ever closer to 10pm, it was time for the feature attraction. Few bands have made as big an impact on the UK & Irish music landscape over the last 18 months than Rudimental.

Their debut album 'Home' has not only launched their own careers, but also that of singer John Newman who featured on two tracks on the record - including the ridiculously catchy #1 hit 'Feel The Love' which, somewhat unsurprisingly, drew an INSANE reaction from those in attendance last night.

entertainment.ie spent the afternoon in the company of Glynne and Rudimental where we filmed a studio session and interview, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled on the site for our exclusive Amplify video content.

Further Amplify gigs will be taking place across the country this weekend and you can find more details on these over at www.guinnessamplify.com
