Former Boyzone crooner Ronan Keating will star in the film adaptation of Man Booker prize-nominated novel 'The Riders', it has been announced.

According to the Irish Independent, Keating will star alongside Mark Strong and the latest Hemsworth acting specimen Luke in feature which will be shot in Ireland. The plot, according to Keating, is "very serious and dark" and centres on a the story of an Australian man living in Ireland whose wife goes missing.

The Riders, written by Tim Winton, was nominated for the Man Booker Prize, one of the biggest awards in literature, in 1995.

Keating has turned his focus from music to acting in recent years. In 2011, he began work on romantic comedy Goddess after which he unsuccessfully auditioned for a role in The Hobbit and will follow in the footsteps of Ringo Starr by providing voice-work for the upcoming Postman Pat: The Movie.
